This was one of my favourite book when I was little – so much so that when I was six I went to school dressed up as Pixie Pat on World Book Day (complete with a massive red paper cone on my head – thanks mum!)
I found it while staying at my parents recently and really enjoyed rediscovering the cute little animals and quirky illustration style…
I love the vintage colours and particularly like the trees with their mix of white and brights…
A perfect little springtime story x
I’m a bit out of sorts at the moment as we are currently in the process of packing up everything ready to move into our new house in 2 days time! (very excited by the way) Therefore Fab Find Friday didn’t get round to happening, but to make up for it here are 3 of my favourite fabulous things I’ve found recently…
No.1 A unique vintage cushion cover – liking that lady’s coat!
No.2 A pretty blue and white china dish
And No.3 This cool 70’s looking serving tray, love love love it!
Looking forward to getting them settled in our new home very shortly 🙂
A few months ago we stumbled across ‘Sunshine’ by Jan Ormerod in a second hand bookshop and it’s since become one of our favourites at bedtime.
Purely pictures, it is a beautiful portrayal of the first hours of the day with a small family…
We especially enjoy it as the little girl and father look exceptionally like Elsie and her Daddy…
…unfortunately I don’t quite resemble the mother, who looks very stylish waking up in the morning! (loving the haircut)
Published in 1981, it has a lovely vintage look, the colours are subtle but warm, a little ray of sunshine on the shelf 🙂
We are currently in the process of moving house – it’s been very stressful to say the least. It’s taken almost a year (6 months to sell and another 6 months to find a new one), in which time our little family has been split up across the country due to work and accommodation commitments. It’s been tough. But the end is now in sight and things are starting to get very exciting! I absolutely cannot wait to get in our new home and be back together again as a family… and of course to start decorating!
Elsie and I have been entertaining ourselves while away from Daddy with much hunting for bargain treasures for our new home. Here are some of our finds today…
An eclectic mix of three vintage green cups, two red retro square mugs and a fun red flowery one for good measure!
Now to start planning the rest of the kitchen! 🙂
What do you think of my lampshade?
I found the frame cheap as chips in a charity shop and thought it was such a lovely shape I just had to have it!
It was only when I got home I realised I hadn’t a clue how to re-cover it – and with my limited sewing knowledge I feared it would turn into a bit of bodge job, but do have to say I’m rather proud of it (although still no one is allowed to examine it too close).
I really enjoyed experimenting, and rummaging around my mums brilliant fabric stash!
I initially added a mustard pom pom trim but unfortunately it didn’t quite make it all the way around (due to my poor calculations!) and woefully couldn’t find anymore in local shops or online – so will have to save that piece for my next one! Still I’m happy with the beads…
I’m now on the search for a vintage lamp stand to go with, and then I think it will look rather nice in the front room of our new house 🙂
I’m very excited about my lovely new teacup and saucers I’ve acquired recently…
They are a random mix of Queen Anne fine bone china teacups and Aynsley saucers and I think they look great together!
I particularly like the black and turquoise saucers, mind you I’m not sure Mimi our cat looks that impressed!
Now for a little tea party to celebrate I think…
